Police Identify Murfreesboro Apartment Complex Shooting Victim

One man is in critical condition after he was shot at an off-campus housing complex in Murfreesboro.

Police tell us Jakerius Reynolds was found by police in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds to his legs.

Reynolds was air-lifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he underwent surgery. Police say Reynolds is in critical but stable condition.

A juvenile was also injured during the shooting. According to police he was grazed by a bullet but is okay. 

Police said two unknown suspects, believed to be juveniles, knocked on the apartment door. Reynolds reportedly opened the door because he thought it was his roommate. 

The gunmen entered the home; there was an altercation, and shots were fired. 

The incident happened just after 1a.m. on Tuesday at the University Ridge Apartments on South Rutherford Boulevard, not far from Middle Tennessee State University.

Three people were being questioned in the incident. 

According to police, when the roommates were being interviewed, someone broke into their apartment. The back window was shattered, and when the witnesses returned to their apartment several televisions were stolen, including a game system.

Police believe the two break-ins are related, and the apartment was targeted.

No suspects are in custody.
