NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Amazon’s announcement to pull out of New York City won’t affect its partnership with Nashville, Mayor David Briley says.
Amazon said Thursday the deal is dead after lawmakers scrutinized the idea of giving subsidies to one of the richest companies in the world.
The move was expected to bring tens of thousands of jobs there.
Briley later released a statement, saying “today’s news in no way affects Nashville’s partnership with Amazon which will bring its Operations Center of Excellence to our city and create 5,000 jobs.”
Back in December, Amazon announced Nashville as the home of its new executive operations center -- making it the largest jobs announcement in Tennessee's history.
