A man was injured overnight during a home invasion in La Vergne.
The incident happened early Thursday morning at a residence on Liberty Lane.
The call initially came in as an armed robbery. However, officials with La Vergne Police have confirmed it was a home invasion.
A man told police he came to pick up his daughter at the home that was involved.
The witness said she was staying at the home with her boyfriend when a suspect entered through a window and demanded money. Her boyfriend was assaulted by the suspect during an altercation.
Police said he is suffering from head trauma and was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.
Police are trying to figure out if shots were fired during the incident. Evidence markers littered the neighborhood.
Police have not said if the home was random or targeted.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
