NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A sheep that escaped her pen during a festival last weekend still hasn't been caught. Search crews are now ramping up their efforts.
The ewe's owner has brought several sheep from the flock to keep in a pen and lure her in. The sheep, named Belle, escaped from her enclosure during last week's Highland Games at Percy Warner Park and has been seen multiple times since then.
"She's being spotted, but once someone spots her, she's hiding up in the woods and she disappears. She's pretty fast," said Stacy Keith, who's volunteered to search and runs the Facebook page Belle-ewe.
Belle was spotted crossing highway 100 Monday afternoon. Several volunteers were walking the tree line or waiting in the park to try to spot her again.
"You're probably talking a few square miles. She's getting around," said Keith.
The owner is bringing sheep tracking dogs to help in the search.
