NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The day after the final 2020 presidential debate at Belmont University, NewsChannel 5 scored big interviews with President Trump, Vice President Biden, and debate moderator Kristen Welker...well, sort of.

We sat down with Belmont students Ryan Sheldon, Eric Reid and Adrianna Paulette, who served as stage doubles for President Trump, Vice President Biden and debate moderator Kristen Welker.

The trio helped the production crew inside the debate hall run rehearsals this week, acting as their stand-ins. They were picked with the help of volunteers just days earlier.

"They basically said hey we know your profile, we need someone that fits president trump’s profile, so would you like to be his stage double," said Sheldon.

The three even took part in a mock debate, using mock topics -- like whether pineapple should be considered a pizza topping.

"It was really interesting to see in real life how systems have to come together to make something as big as this work," said Paulette.
