CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Police are investigating an early morning shooting that involved an off-duty officer.

Clarksville Police say Henry Demetrius Shannon, 29. got into an argument with his girlfriend on the 2200 block of Lowes Drives around 3 a.m. He then allegedly got a handgun from his car and fired shots as others were leaving a nearby business.

An off-duty police officer from Kentucky was at the scene and tried to talk with Shannon. The suspect pointed his weapon at the officer, who then fired his own handgun.

After running away, Shannon was found in a nearby field with a gunshot wound to the arm. He was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

Shannon is charged with Domestic Assault and Aggravated Assault, with additional charges pending.
