NASHVILLE, Tenn (WTVF) — Neighbors met at a community meeting as a thief continues to target a Nashville neighborhood. Multiple homeowners have seen the same man wearing a mask break into cars in West Meade and the Hillwood neighborhoods.
The person has even stolen some vehicles from homes in the area.
It was a packed house at the Brook Hollow Baptist Church. Many people in attendance are victims of crimes that all happened this month and many believe all committed by the same suspect.
For weeks ring and doorbell cameras have captured the images of a person and dark clothing going behind homes and even up to cars.
One video shows the suspect with a mask over his face carrying a flash light looking through car windows and then leaving.
The same person returns on another night in the same clothing, this time opening the door to an SUV, hopping in and searching the contents and taking off.
But, he again returns to same property on a different date. People told officers their homes were broken into and had jewelry stolen.
One lady says the thief got away with about $50 thousand worth of her belongings, while another person said both of her cars were stolen right out of her driveway.
"We have had a rash of people combing our neighborhoods, creeping around, setting the rings off on the front doors, just getting a little too close. We've recently had some burglaries very near our home and all up and down Hickory Valley there seems to be a rash of a creeper," said Jill Clark, a Hillwood resident.
Neighbors can expect some undercover units in the area.
The commander stressing to those in the communities to call the non-emergency number if you suspect anything suspicious or catch anything out the ordinary on your surveillance because it can help police create a pattern of the suspect or suspects.
