A construction worker remained in serious condition Tuesday after a semi struck a scaffold on the interstate over the weekend.
According to the construction manager at Jamison Construction, four workers were on the platform at the time of the incident.
Two of the workers were taken to Vanderbilt and one was later released.
Cable said, “The reports we were getting was he was alive but barely. When you’re talking about one of your boys... you’re sick.”
The worker who fell off the platform onto the interstate was still in the hospital on Tuesday.
Cable said, "I don't know if it's life-threatening at this point, I think they've got him stable. But there are certainly some serious injuries that they're working on."
Jamison Construction is repairing several bridges on I-440 for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Cable said, “They’re crazy out there at times, just slow down, move over, pay attention to your surroundings. When you see blue lights flashing and you see construction equipment and people out there, keep an eye out.”
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said this is an on-going investigation. They have not released whether criminal charges could be filed. The move over law could play a part in this investigation.
