NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Two brothers were killed in a shooting near Parkwood Park in Nashville late Sunday night.

Quintarius Newbell, 23, and his brother Keianthony Newbell, 17, were found lying on the pavement with fatal gunshot wounds, according to Metro Nashville Police Department officials. Detectives gathered evidence Sunday night and tell NewsChannel 5 that they discovered a few leads overnight. So far, no arrests or additional information have been provided.

The mother of the two brothers didn't want to go on camera, but told NewsChannel 5 she was heartbroken and her family wants answers. She gathered alongside some of her other family members and friends Monday morning at Parkwood Park. She also told NewsChannel 5 that she heard gunshots ring out since the family lives close to the park.

Tragically, she also saw the bodies before she learned they belonged to her two boys.

The mother didn't know what circumstances led to the violence, but hoped a tip from the community or a break through in MNPD's investigation will provide her family with some much-needed closure.
