NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The crime rate in Nashville has gotten the attention of Metro lawmakers. So much so, they put together a committee to look at the high jail rates in the North Nashville zip code 37208.

That group put together its findings in a report released this week.

Among their findings, the report says the city should increase investments in small non-profit organizations in North Nashville.

One such non-profit is the group Gentlemen And Not Gangsters (GANG), a program for kids on probation, who are given a chance to see where their lives may be headed.

At a meeting Wednesday a casket was front and center, showing the teens what their future could look like if they don't make changes in their lives.

"All of these programs would have better momentum if we had better support, and we could cover a whole lot of ground," said Bishop Marcus Campbell, with the program.

The kids in the program go through 12 weeks of classes for a chance to end their probation period early.
