NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF)  — One of the attorneys for Cyntoia Brown says she’s committed to helping young people now that she’s been released from prison.

Houston Gordon was part of Brown’s legal team for nine years. She was released from prison on Wednesday after spending 15 years behind bars.

Brown, now 31, completed her GED and took college classes during her time in prison. She earned her bachelor's degree in professional studies in May 2019.

"She's going to live life, it's the first time this young woman has been able to go to grocery store and buy a bottle of milk, use an ATM car, park a car. She was a child when she was put in prison,” Gordon said.

In a statement earlier this week, Brown said "I'm blessed to have a very supportive family and friends to support me in the days to come. I look forward to using my experiences to help other women and girls suffering abuse and exploitation."
