MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) — Marcus Hill and Marcus Hill Jr. don't just share a name. They share a competitive spirit and the ability to turn the mundane, into the memorable.
The dancing duo have slid into social media stardom, with viral videos showing them dancing around the kitchen. "The slide is the thing, that’s our signature move," said Marcus Sr.
While they're warming hearts as father and son, this all started as a Valentine's Day gift, four years ago, for Mom. "He knocked on the door like room service, room service. She didn’t really have any clue what was going on. And when she came to the door and saw him with the plate and breakfast, she was bawling, " said Marcus Sr.
Sunday morning breakfast in bed quickly became a weekly tradition. But Marcus's wife never got to see the spectacle inside her kitchen. So Marcus decided to start recording their dance parties. He showed one of the videos to a friend, who encouraged him to post it on social media.
"He was like, no you should. And when I posted it, the reaction was overwhelming," said Marcus Sr.
The videos quickly became a fixture of social media in these unpredictable times. "Young, older, different races whatever reaching out saying this is wonderful, and that just kind of made it special," he said.
But if you ask Marcus Jr. (or MJ as his family calls him) he doesn't really care about being a social media celebrity. "We just cook and we have fun with my dad," said Marcus Jr.
He just loves that he's spending time with his favorite person. That's something else, that these two share.
"Cherish the moments, make memories with them, regardless," suggested Marcus Sr.
