FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — She's been teaching for years at Freedom Middle School in the Franklin Special School district.
Cicely Woodard's specialty is 8th grade mathematics and many of her students give her credit, for their love of the subject. Even those, who weren't particularly fond of it before love it now that Ms.Woodard has made math fun.
She even admits, that when she was their age, she didn't like math either! But, time brings about a change, and recently Woodard was given an honor that surprised her, but certainly not her students.
That happened, when the National Education Association named Cicely Woodard, Teacher of the Year.
Still wearing a smile from the honor, and being saluted by her students, Woodard says, she shares the award with her fellow teachers, and
hopes that they all work toward inspiring their students no matter what their circumstances might be.
