Metro Nashville Police officers responded to a serious crash on I-40 Westbound Monday morning.
A car was found on its side on the interstate's shoulder near the Donelson Pike exit.
The guardrail appeared to be entangled in the vehicle.
The driver was rushed to a local hospital in serious or critical condition.
According to a Metro Police spokesperson, the fatal crash team was called out to investigate the incident.
As of 10:30a.m. on Monday, officials were not able to confirm any updates on the driver's condition.
The crash closed the interstate momentarily as TDOT moved debris out of the roadway.
It's unclear whether any other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Officers have not released what caused the crash.
