SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A field of sunflowers in Summertown has become the breathtaking backdrop of hundreds of photos.

Tony Brawner says he gets about 40 people a day visiting "Amy's Garden" to take pictures.

Brawner says he planted the flowers last year in honor of his daughter Amy. Amy loved sunflowers and had sunflower decorations all over her room.

It's been 23 years since Amy passed away but this has been a way to keep her memory alive. She was 14 years old when she passed away from neuroblastoma, a type of cancer. She was diagnosed at 11 years old.

"When Amy was diagnosed with cancer, of course, it devastated everyone, but she was just so strong," said Brawner.

Brawner also lost his wife Jane a few years later. Jane was on her way to work when she noticed her friend was out of gas on side of the highway. As Jane was helping her friend with her car, she was hit by another vehicle.

He says while life hasn't turned out the way he expected, he holds onto his faith and these sunflowers give him solace.

Anyone can visit the garden to take photos for free at 204 HWY 20 Summertown, TN.
