NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — An East Nashville mother said she is remaining strong for her six children after an electrical fire destroyed their home on Bethwood Drive late last week.
Latosha Springs said she and her husband, John, woke up to the smell of smoke.
Since the fire, Springs said she's thankful for people in the community who have helped with donations but her family is running into more problems. Their vehicle started giving them trouble on Monday.
"I'm very thankful that we were able to get all of us out with no injuries. I mean we got a few sick but they're alive. Right now, we're looking to get clothes for the kids for school. I'm just being strong for them" she said.
Images of smoke remain in the mind of LaTosha Springs. She said seeing fire trucks now gives her flashbacks to the incident. Springs knows they lost everything but could have lost so much more. As crews put out the fire that night, she realized her 5-year-old daughter was missing.
"We literally searched around looking for her. We finally got her, as we were going down to get out the whole ceiling just caved in. Just a few more moments it could have been her," she recalled.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help them at this time.
