A former employer of accused killer Steven Wiggins described him as troubled but nice.
Barry Gordon of Nolensville is the owner of Done Rite HVAC. He said he hired Wiggins a few years ago after an ad on Craigslist.
“He seemed kind of like a soft-spoken and young guy, maybe a little troubled,” Gordon told NewsChannel 5 on the phone.
Gordon said he was dealing with personal issues but could not remember the specifics. He even let Wiggins stay at his house because he had nowhere to live for the several months he was employed.

“I even helped him get out of jail and drove him back from Dickson. He was remorseful and probably looked at me like a father-figure,” he added.
Wiggins eventually moved out, but Gordon never recalled any threatening behavior. He and his wife saw the report of his arrest and were left shocked.
“To hear such a dynamite report about a killing was certainly off my understanding chart,” Gordon said.
The business owner said he called police because he feared Wiggins might show up to his wooded and large property.
“He knows our property is 20 acres and rather wooded so he can hide anywhere. It became a little bit of a concern for us and wanted to protect ourselves.”
Wiggins was accused of shooting and killing Sgt. Daniel Baker of the Dickson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday.
A manhunt has been underway in the county with many agencies across the mid-state.
