The man accused of killing Dickson County Deputy Daniel Baker has a lengthy criminal history including an alleged domestic assault that happened less than 24 hours before the beloved deputy was shot and killed.

On Tuesday night Steven Wiggins allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in Kingston Springs. Court documents show he slapped her in the face and began pulling her hair out.

Documents show the violent encounter got worse, when the 31-year-old then pulled out a gun and said he was going to kill her. Wiggins also admitted to doing meth all night.

The car at the center of the investigation, a Saturn sedan was apparently being driven by Wiggins driving when he was pulled over Wednesday morning.

Wiggins also has a number of assault charged on his record from 2015.
