FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — One lucky Franklin teen is going on a free cruise after winning a contest! The Page Middle School student beat thousands of contestants to win the AAA European river cruise contest.

"My mom came up to me while I was doing my homework and at first I didn't believe her," said Grace Dalenberg, "it took me some time to process that I had won."

Grace will be traveling through Amsterdam and Belgium at the end of the month with her mom. During the trip, Grace plans to visit historic landmarks like the Anne Frank House, do biking tours, and meet other students at different schools overseas.

The contest was open to eighth graders in 11 states - Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Illinois, Indiana, and Minnesota. Grace Dalenberg is one of 56 winners across 11 states , one of 4 in Tennessee.

To enter the contest, applicants had to submit an essay answering why they want to go on this trip and how do rivers affect communities.

The cruise will be from March 27 to April 4. The other winners in Tennessee were from Knoxville and Savannah.
