MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A crash last week on I-24 killed a Cookeville woman after the car she was driving collided with a semi.
Now, co-workers and friends of Christa Farmer are working to raise money to support the five children she left behind.
Early Friday morning, investigators say Farmer was driving I-24 just south of Murfreesboro when she got into an accident, hitting the back of a semi.
Inside the car were Christa, and her 10 year old daughter Hannah.
While Hannah made it out ok, Christa did not.
Friends say Christa was driving to her job when the accident happened. They say she had picked up extra work ever since her mother died three months ago, and her father shortly before that. Friends say she was trying to pay for their funeral expenses.
Now those friends are getting the word out about a gofundme page, in hopes that others will donate to Christa's funeral costs and a college fund for her five children.
Christa's employer said they will double the amount of the donations to the page collected through Monday night.
