COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Putnam County Sheriff's Office created a fundraiser to support a fellow deputy who was seriously injured in a crash.

Deputy Chris Lynn's cruiser was hit while he responded to an emergency call Thursday night. He was rushed to the hospital where he is in the Intensive Care Unity at Venderbilt University Medical Center.

Sheriff's officials say Lynn is facing months of rehabilitation and numerous surgeries. Sheriff Farris worked with local community leaders including the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #10, located in Cookeville, and the Bank of Putnam County to establish an account that friends, family and the Putnam County community can donation to.

All funds raised will go directly to Deputy Lynn’s family to be used for medical, travel and lodging expenses while they aid him in his recovery.

“Everyone here is family, and when someone in the family needs help, you help them in any way possible,” said Sheriff Farris. “We want to provide Deputy Lynn’s family the support and finan-cial resources they need so that their focus remains on him and his recovery. He has a long road ahead of him, but with the strength of his family and our community, we are confident that we will see him patrolling the streets of Putnam County again.”

Donations will be accepted at any of the Bank of Putnam County 19 locations in nine counties. All donations should be made out to the following:
