In this season of giving, folks in a Mid-State neighborhood have been worried someone might be trying to take away their hard earned cash.
Earlier this week, a Mid-State man walked out of his Green Hills home to find a flyer in his mailbox asking him to send holiday cash to his garbage collector to a post office box in Goodlettsville.
But the problem? When he checked with the garbage collector about the flyer, he was told they didn't put it there, meaning this was likely a scam.
In fact, the USPS Postal Inspector in Nashville said they're looking into it.
"You just kind of wonder what we've gotten to. It's a shame if anybody does send them some money, and hopefully they can monitor this box and see if someone does send them money," said Greg Reichert, a neighbor.
The postal inspector said any money sent to the mailbox will be returned to the sender, while they investigate who tried to collect on this neighborhood's goodwill.
