A gas leak in Franklin affected rush hour traffic.
Authorities with the Franklin Police Department said a substantial gas leak closed a portion of Cool Springs Boulevard and Carothers Parkway.
Reports stated the leak was not yet under control as of just before 4 p.m. Thursday, adding northbound Carothers Parkway was closed at Crescent Center and eastbound Cool Springs Boulevard was closed at Carothers Parkway.
Just before 4:45 p.m., authorities confirmed Carothers had reopened, but Cool Springs Boulevard remained closed.
Drivers were urged to seek alternate routes. Police said congestion was heavy, and they expected it to get worse.
