GALLATIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A GoFundMe has been set up to assist the family of a mother, whose body was found in a burning car in Sumner County.
Police identified the victim as Morgan Stocks. She leaves behind a 1-year-old son, step-daughter, and husband whom she married back in March.
Officers were first called to the Sumner County Board of Education parking lot around 1:30 a.m. Saturday to help put out a vehicle fire.
The car was on the Sumner County School board steps. How the car got there, and how the fire started, remains a mystery. According to district officials, the victim has no affiliation with the school district.
Friends on Facebook said Morgan Stocks had the 'biggest heart.' She grew up in Westmoreland, but was currently living in the Portland area. A family spokesperson issued a statement saying:
"Our family is really having a hard time with this. I can tell you that we still don't really have any answers but are confident the investigators with the Gallatin Police Department are working hard to piece together what happened that night."
It's unclear if investigators believe foul play is involved.
Family and friends are asking for donations on their Go Fund Me page which will help pay for funeral costs. Click here to view the GoFundMe.
