SMYRNA, Tenn. (WTVF) — A double homicide has shaken a quiet neighborhood in Smyrna and right now there aren't any leads.

On Saturday, Smyrna police say 40-year-old Andrew Geerts and 43-year-old Melissa Nale were both found dead inside a bedroom of a home on Bridgewater Drive.

Nale's daughter, Mackenzie Combs tells us Nale and Geerts have been dating for about a year. They recently moved to Dunlap, Tennessee from Smyrna, but they came back this weekend to take care of some errands.

She says the couple's bodies were discovered by Andrew's son, who lives in the home. Both victims appeared to have been shot.

"Well it's definitely obviously not something I expect to happen and we still don't know too many details," Combs said.

Combs was looking forward to having her mother around for her wedding, after being recently engaged. Now she just wants answers as the suspect is still on the loose.

"She was really important to me, and really kind," said Combs, "she had a great sense of humor and knew how to make people laugh."

Smyrna police are asking anyone with residential cameras or information on the investigation to contact them.

The family has set up a fundraiser page. If you want to help, click here.

The last homicide in the Town of Smyrna was back in December 2018.
