NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The Hermitage Hotel was named the best hotel in Tennessee in the U.S. News & World Report's 2020 Best Hotels list.
The online magazine announced its tenth annual best hotels ranking on Tuesday. The Hermitage Hotel was also named No. 75 best hotel in the United States.
U.S. News & World Report looks at 30,000 luxury hotels and resorts across the North America, Europe and Bermuda to create its yearly list. The publication looks at top industry awards, hotel star ratings and guest reviews to create the list.
The Hermitage Hotel has operated in downtown Nashville for 110 years. Construction began for Nashville's first million-dollar hotel began in 1908. The Hermitage Hotel held its grand opening night two years later on September 17, 1910.
During the 1920s it served as the national headquarters for both pro and anti-women's suffrage causes. An exhibit honoring Tennessee's involvement in the women's suffrage movement is on display at the hotel in honor of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment this year.
