Officers with the Murfreesboro Police have asked for the public's help in finding a driver that hit a cyclist on Broad Street.
Officials said the crash happened early Monday morning, a driver on Broad Street hit Robert Maples, a cyclist riding on the shoulder of the road.
The driver then continued down the road and left the scene. The impact sent Maples flying through mid-air, and left him on the side of the road early this morning.
He was wearing a helmet, so he didn’t sustain any major injuries.
Police said the vehicle that hit Maples was likely a tan Chevy Venture van with a model year between 1999 and 2005, with a missing right side view mirror.
Maples said he wants to know why the driver just took off.
“I just can’t believe he left,” Maples said. “I mean, accidents happen, but I could have been there bleeding to death.”
If you know anything about the hit and run incident, call Murfreesboro police.
