Tornadoes are scary images that we’re all familiar with.
You’ve heard it hundreds of times when watching TV coverage of a tornado warning: “get to your safe place!”
But how many of you actually know where your “safe place” is?
First, you always want to be on the lowest floor. So, if you live in a two-story house you want to go to the lowest floor.
Where is a “safe place?” It is the most interior room of the home, the one with no walls that lead to the outside. Usually, that’s something like a closet or a bathroom.
But what if your home does not have an interior room?
Believe it or not, it is a bathroom - specifically the bathtub. A bathtub is anchored down deep into the ground with piping. That pipping gives it extra, anchor support helping to keep the tub in place.
You want to get into the fetal position and cover yourself with something, such as a blanket to help protect from any debris.
While the chances of your house being hit by a tornado are relatively low, it only takes one to change your live forever.
