NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Lawmakers are trying to create a new group that's sole purpose would be to solve legislative education issues on the state level.

The joint resolution would create an 'education task force' made up of state senators and representatives.

The sponsor of the resolution, Republican Representative Chris Hurt from Halls, said he's doing what schools have asked for.

"I think we should provide standards and better resources to our schools and back off and let our schools do their job and teach their students," said Hurt.

The resolution will create a group that studies the state's testing processes, they would look at curriculum, policies and how it all affects teachers, students and their families.
