A fugitive on the run for half a year is now in the hands of Bedford County officials once again.
Tristan McMahon gave deputies in Bedford County the slip back in July, just minutes after being sentenced at the courthouse in Bedford County for drugs and weapons charges.
McMahon hadn't been seen or heard from since, until January when police in Athens, Alabama spotted him.
Police there said McMahon hit one of the officers and tried to run away again, but police caught up to him, and Bedford County Sheriff's deputies said they now have McMahon back in custody in their jail.
Bedford County Sheriff Austin Swing said he wasn't surprised McMahon was finally back behind bars in Tennessee seven months later.
“It would just be a matter of time until he got into some kind of trouble, which is exactly what he did,” Swing said.
The Sheriff’s office has hired two new guards for the courthouse, with two more on the way, and the sheriff said there have still been ongoing discussions to secure more doors at the Bedford County courthouse.
