Friends and neighbors of a teen shot and killed in Nashville last weekend said the teen has gotten a bum rap from police.
Last Saturday, Metro Police said 18-year-old Hagan Newland was shot to death in his car while he was with friends in a restaurant parking lot.
Police said his death was related to a drug deal, but Hagan's friends and neighbors said they don't believe that.
They held a vigil in honor of Hagan Friday night in Ashland City with friends and neighbors who said there's no way the high school senior on the football team could have been involved with drugs.
The father of one of Hagan’s best friends spoke to the group of dozens who assembled.
“I just want everybody to know that he was the greatest person, he had no bad heart, he was not mean to anybody,” he said.
Three teens -- one as young as 15 -- were arrested last week in connection to Hagan's death.
