A Macon County student was arrested after allegedly making threats against a school.
Macon County Schools confirmed a Red Boiling Springs High School student was taken into custody late Thursday night after allegedly making a verbal threat to bring a weapon to school.
The alleged threat was brought up in a discussion with another student. That student told a teacher who contacted authorities.
The school was on lockdown Friday as a precaution. There were extra deputies and sheriff’s office resources on campus and outside the school.
Other school districts have reported that false threats had been made but none of them were substantiated.
