ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WTVF) — An Antioch man is fed up with one busy intersection after a number of drivers seemingly go even after the light changes to red.
Mike Smerka captured these incidences on his dash camera.
He uses the intersection at Bell Road and Brookview Estates Drive everyday for work and says he constantly sees numerous cars running red lights.
Smerka says he started recording on his dash cam because he’s worried about a potential accident.
"It's an awful spot," he said. "People run the red light, three or four cars at a time, every morning, every light change. Every day I almost get hit."
Smerka says he’s called the non-emergency police line and put a complaint in through hubNashville. He hopes by bringing awareness to the issue, he can prevent anyone from getting hurt or even worse, killed in a car crash.
Bell road is known to be a busy roadway. A little over a month ago, multiple injuries were reported in a crash involving a tractor trailer and a car just down the road from the Brookview estates intersection.
NewsChannel 5 spoke with metro police. They say if you want to request extra patrols in your area, you should call your local precinct. Every precinct has community coordinators to deal with issues like this one.
