NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Charges filed against a man in connection with a shooting in late November have now been upgraded to murder.
Metro police said Tuesday that 21-year-old Thomas Vaden III was initially charged with felony aggravated assault in the shooting of 56-year-old Randal Faulk. However, after Faulk died on December 9, Vaden now faces a murder charge.
The shooting happened outside of Faulk's California Avenue home back on November 16. Vaden was arrested in the case on November 19.
Police said he admitted to shooting Faulk after, he said, Faulk hit him first.
According to investigators, elements of Vaden’s statement were contradicted by witness information and video evidence.
