NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Texas man was shot and killed in connection to what police are calling a marijuana distribution conspiracy.

The incident happened Saturday outside the Red Roof Inn on Claridge Drive.

The victim got into an argument with two men that ended with him being shot, initial reports stated. He was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he later died.

Officials identified the man as Samuel Eugene Robinson, 46, of Houston, Texas. Robinson’s fingerprints were on file as a result of his multiple arrests in Texas.

Officers found 99 vacuum sealed packages of marijuana weighing a total of 218 pounds and worth more than $500,000 on the street inside suitcases in a room at the motel Saturday.

Both suspects ran away before police arrived and are still on the run, but officials say they are chasing several leads on the pair.

The investigation into this case by Hermitage Precinct detectives and the Major Case Task Force of the Specialized Investigations Division is ongoing.
