NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A mid-state man is learning how to walk and feed himself again after battling COVID-19.

While the majority of people who get COVID-19 fully recover, some people like Adrian Moody have a rough go of it.

"I had to learn how to walk again, I had to learn how to feed myself because my body shut down. I was at Vanderbilt from July to September," Moody said.

He has since been moved to a rehabilitation facility.

"I’m still working on getting my balance right," Moody said, "It’s like a newborn baby, I have to learn all of this stuff again."

Moody explained he experienced some rough days after getting sick saying, "That stuff can kill you and take you away. I'm very very lucky to still be here, and be alive."

At one point in the ICU, he was later told that he couldn't remember his own name or birthday.

"I’m lucky to survive it because God was on my side, and he has plans for me, and I’m thankful for that, but I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy," Moody said.

He should be released from the rehab facility soon. As of now, he won't be able to work his traffic control job or at Hardee's, but he hopes to go back eventually.

"The only thing I can say is-- it’s been rough," Moody said. "My right hand, I can still hardly move it, so I have to go through some therapy for that."

After the ordeal, Moody wants people to do everything they can to stay safe during the pandemic. "People need to take it seriously, cause this is not no joke," Moody said.

Moody doesn't know how much his medical bills will cost yet, but he's very worried. If you would like to help him get through this time, he's asking folks to send him donations to Vanco Health Care & Rehabilitation Center on Dickerson Road in Goodlettsville.
