Murfreesboro police are investigating the case of an illegal trespasser after a squatter took over a home.
The home owner, Dorsey Meeks, says he got a call that someone had moved into the home he had previously rented out for years, but Meeks says he has no idea who they are.
Meeks says whoever lives there now also got a Murfreesboro Electric account in their name.
Meeks says Murfreesboro Electric told him they asked for a drivers license and social security number from the person opening the account, but nothing that would actually prove they're allowed to live there.
"They need to ask for -- at least -- leases that are notarized," said Meeks.
We reached out to Murfreesboro Electric, who said this was a private property dispute that should be handled through the legal court system.... they say Murfreesboro Electric had no responsibility in this matter.
