NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Music City BMX will host roughly 3,000 people June 5-7, but before then, track operators want to upgrade the course.
"We're all volunteers and we just do it out of the love of our hearts and the love of the sport," said Rob Young.
Young is the track operator and is gearing up for the national competition coming to Hamilton Creek Park.
"This place is a premier track in the country. It is on everyone's top five list, if not their favorites list. We have the best facility in the country and have had it for years. We put a lot of time, money and fundraising to try to get money to put into the track and everything we make here we put right back into the facility," Young said.
Young wants Nashville to put it's best foot forward when thousands of riders and fans visit for the annual competition.
"The biggest thing we want to do is our bleachers. We want to get them covered from the sun so people aren't sitting in the sun all day. [We're] trying to protect them," Young said.
Additionally, the track is looking for a sponsor to advertise at the finish line. In the spring, the track will also be resurfaced.
"I love seeing the smile on these kids faces and the better we make this place the more they smile," Young said.
