Nashville Oktoberfest 2018 is in full swing. It kicked off with an opening ceremony and commemorative keg tap.

Organizers were excited to expand the annual event to 10 city blocks. Ginger Newman said her favorite attraction is the beer slide.

"They have to have a beer in their hand as they go down the slip and slide without spilling the beer," said Ginger Newman.

The VIP Tent will feature special attractions. On Thursday night they had aerial bartenders from Beyond Wings Circus. Newman said they're aiming high, expecting the biggest crowd yet.

Newman said, "Half a million! Come on Nashville, you can do this! Bring it!"

Organizers recommend ride sharing or walking to the event.

"Lots of food, lots of drink. Parking can be a bit interesting but ya know it is Nashville," said Newman.

On Saturday afternoon there's a parade and chicken dance competition. So if you plan on coming out to celebrate, bring your jacket and an empty stomach. Oktoberfest runs all weekend.
