NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Morgan Clark started Morgan's Diner when the downtown music venues closed.

"I felt lonely when this whole quarantine started and I wanted to bring comfort to people through music and food," said Morgan Clark. "Those are the things that I find comfort in."

Clark is a singer-songwriter. She was forced to find a new way to support herself when Nashville's Safer-at-Home order shutdown the restaurants and bars where she performs.

"I play venues when life is normal, but I had this idea... what if I could connect with people," Clark said.

Clark created a pop-up diner in her kitchen.

"When I first started 'Morgan's Diner' I didn't think I would sell one quiche," she said.

However, what may be contributing to the success of Morgan's Diner, is that her deliveries include a performance. She sings original songs at a safe distance when she's dropping off her dishes.

"It's a fun, bright, positive feel that I think people need right now," she said.

Morgan performs original songs, including her song "Unshakable," which she wrote before the pandemic.

"It's about people joining together during crazy times in life, but remaining unshakable," she said.

The singer turned baker is realizing her new venture is rewarding in more ways than one.

"It has been profitable... but it has [also] been an experience. Being able to see someone live, not through Facebook live... it's as healing to for me as it is for them," she said.
