GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. – A Georgia girl’s first birthday will be one to remember thanks to a few acts of kindness by two police officers. And, it was all caught on camera.

Gwinnett County Police say Sgt. Nick Boney’s body camera was rolling when he spotted a woman waiting on the side of a road holding a bunch of balloons on a cold January night.

In video released by the department Wednesday, Boney is seen offering to give the unidentified woman a ride home. That’s when he learned it was her daughter’s first birthday and she wanted to get her a cake.

Boney then called over his fellow officer, Jimmy Wilson, gave him his credit card and asked him to go buy a cake with a number 1 candle for the woman.

When they arrived at the woman’s home, the officers surprised her with the cake and went inside to help sing the little girl “Happy Birthday.”

Police say they found the footage of the acts of kindness during a random audit of body cam videos.

"I don't think it has anything to do in general with being a police officer," Boney told CBS News. "I think a lot of people do that every day. It just doesn't get seen."
