NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — One person was placed into a police cruiser following a standoff at an apartment complex in Madison.

Metro Nashville police officers responded to the Madison Park Condominiums apartment complex on North DuPont Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. Friday.

According to police, officers tried to contact a man who had multiple felony warrants and was believed to be armed. The man has not been identified.

Investigators said there was a second person in the unit with the wanted man, but he was able to escape.

Officers were seen in tactical gear, and it appeared that law enforcement focused their efforts around the top floor of a building in the back of the complex. Officers at the scene said they communicated with the man by phone.

Nearby apartment units were evacuated as a precaution.
