HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WTVF) — More and more young professionals are moving to Christian County, Kentucky. Hopkinsville has the youngest population in the state.

The U.S. Census shows that the average age in Hopkinsville is 28.

Dr. Kalleb Greene, a dentist, grew up in Hopkinsville and moved back about two years ago after living and attending schools in Lexington, Bowling Green and St. Louis.

Despite most millennials moving to urban centers, he and his wife chose differently.

“A lot of my friends I went to high school or college went to Nashville, in particular, and within three and four years migrated back home,” he said.

The city still faces issues with housing and schools, as well as low median incomes and jobs. However, with great new tourism growth, Mayor Carter Hendricks says the next census may have more positive numbers, too.
