Police Warn Of Counterfeit Titans Tickets Ahead Of Game

Posted

In advance of the Titans home game against the Seahawks, Metro Police have warned Nashvillians to beware of counterfeit tickets.

In the home opener with the Raiders, Nissan Stadium reported 20 fake tickets were presented at the gates for the game. All of those tickets were sold by street dealers.

"Ticket counterfeiting is not new to Nashville," said Don Aaron, spokesperson for Metro Police. "We've seen it before in big games. There is an excitement about the Titans, there's been an excitement about the Predators, in recent times, and when that excitement exists, you have persons who come into the city and try to make money illegally off that excitement."

Counterfeit tickets typically show up during popular events. However, legal street dealers have to have a license. Aaron suggests taking a picture of the seller's ID before you buy the ticket.

"We're urging people when they're buying tickets on the street to be very careful when you do. It was reported that the tickets that showed up against the Raiders looked very good," he said.

"Of course, the ticket office is always the best place to get entry into the stadium," Aaron said.

People who are scammed by counterfeiters don't have a way to get their money back. Without identifying who sold the ticket, most would be out of luck.

Counterfeiting the tickets is a felony crime.
