School bus crash sends two students to the hospital

PARIS, Tenn. (WTVF) — A Henry County school bus driver told police he was blinded by the sun when he crashed into a ditch.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Leon Lyell was driving east on Jones Bend Road when he said the sun blinded him and he ran off the right side of the road and into a ditch.

The bus then rolled onto its side. A total of 13 students were on board at the time, two of which were transported to the hospital for minor injuries. Three students were also taken to the hospital by personal vehicles for minor injuries.

Most of the students were heading to Henry Elementary School.
