NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The State is seeking an adult court transfer for a 16-year-old, who allegedly shot an Uber driver during an attempted carjacking, to be transferred to adult court.

David Mays was arrested Wednesday after nearly a week on the run.

Back on March 13th, an Uber driver stopped to get gas at an Exxon station on Shelby Avenue when a vehicle pulled up alongside him.

Investigators said Mays jumped out of the SUV and told the driver to give him the keys to the vehicle. The driver refused and that's when police said the Mays opened the car door and shot him once in the abdomen.

Mays was supposed to appear at a juvenile detention hearing on Thursday but he waived his right to appear.

The District Attorney’s Office confirmed they’re seeking to have him transferred to adult court.
