FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A suspicious person call at a Franklin truck stop led police to arrest an Arkansas fugitive wanted in connection with an investigation involving suspected human remains.
Franklin Police said officers responded to the truck stop Friday, Aug. 21, after receiving a report of a suspicious person. Officers identified the man as Rudy Ray, 56, of Trumann, Arkansas.
As officers investigated Ray’s identity and circumstances, they coordinated with law enforcement in Arkansas and learned authorities in Trumann were in the process of obtaining warrants for him.
Ray is wanted on charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence, according to Franklin Police.
Trumann authorities told Franklin Police the charges stem from an investigation that began with a missing person report involving a woman. Investigators later discovered what are believed to be human remains on a property in Trumann.
Franklin officers arrested Ray on a fugitive from justice charge. He remains in the Williamson County Jail on a $1 million bond while arrangements are made to extradite him to Arkansas.
The Trumann Police Department is handling the underlying missing person investigation and pending Arkansas charges.
