(WTVF) — NewsChannel 5 has issued a Storm 5 Alert for 3 p.m. until midnight Saturday as strong wind and scattered storms will create hazardous travel conditions tonight across Middle Tennessee.
A strong windy cold front will howl through tonight bringing scattered storms and gusty wind to the area. The primary threat tonight is for damaging straight line wind, although some small hail is also possible. The Storm Prediction Center has us in a Marginal risk for severe weather (level 1 out of 5).
Strong wind won't be confined to just thunderstorms though. Once again this is a very energetic system that will create gusty conditions ahead of and behind the cold front also. We'll have a Southerly wind tonight between 15-20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph.
The cold front will clear middle Tennessee around midnight. There may be a few lingering showers through daybreak, but the heaviest rain will be over.
