Storm 5 Alert: Severe Thunderstorm Watch for western counties, strong storms possible across Middle TN

Some of our Western counties are out of the severe threat for tonight. The cold front is moving through Middle Tennessee right now.

A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning, this time for Robertson County.

FRIDAY, 6:10 p.m.

Most of Middle Tennessee is now under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until midnight Friday. Wind remains the highest risk, although there is a low risk of hail and tornadoes.

FRIDAY, 5:46 p.m.

FRIDAY, 3:50 p.m.

Severe Thunderstorm warning issued for Christian & Trigg Counties until 4:30p.m. Storm packing 60mph wind and small hail, moving East at 35mph. This will be in Hopkinsville around 4:10pm.

FRIDAY, 12:30 p.m.

Far Western parts of the area are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m. tonight.

THURSDAY UPDATE: Strong storms may impact your Friday night, prompting a Storm 5 Alert.

The timing is expected to be between 12 p.m. and midnight on Friday with the main threats of isolated tornadoes, damaging wind, small hail and flash flooding.

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible as a cold front moves across the Mid-State. Spotty storms will be possible around lunchtime with a line of stronger storms expected between 4 p.m. and midnight.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed areas in Southern Kentucky and west of Interstate 65 under a slight risk, level two out of five.

Damaging wind is the primary threat from these storms, but an isolated tornado and localized flooding cannot be ruled out.

Storms will move out by early Saturday morning, leaving the area with a more fall-like weekend. Highs on both Saturday and Sunday will be in the 60s.
