NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A restaurant in the Gulch is proving that kindness isn't cancelled.

Sunda New Asian Restaurant collaborated with the non-profit People Loving Nashville to give back to those in need, with their tradition now known as Sunda Service.

"We've done everything from kids in school who aren't getting that meal in the middle of the day, to hospital workers to different neighborhoods and literally pulling up and dropping off hundreds of meals," said owner Billy Dec.

For the last month the restaurant has given a hundred meals each week to different people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This week it's the hospitality industry.

"The hospitality industry is in a lot of trouble," Dec said, "the PPE loans given out helped but more is needed."

The food is inspired by different Southeast Asian cuisine.

"It's a good time to share with those who are in challenging times and that's what the Southeast culture is about," Dec explained, "eating and sharing with family and we're just doing that."
